Academics

Why should a 130-year-old school have adopted the International Baccalaureate Program in grades K-12? The Dwight School was the 58th school in the world to offer the IB diploma. We have seen first-hand where a challenging, comprehensive, and balanced curriculum—both in and outside the classroom—leads.

Faculty and Students together live the life of IB learners and doers

We have witnessed our students become tolerant, compassionate, responsible, and internationally-minded citizens. Master teachers from all corners of the globe create the IB curriculum and framework. We are passionate advocates of the IB as a unique program—with three thousand schools worldwide. With the opening of Woodside Preschool in the fall of 2005, the IB Primary Years Program now extends into Dwight’s Early Years Program.

The spirit that unifies the Dwight School is that of faculty and students together living the life of IB learners and doers. Together, we study contemporary issues and advance their solutions. We study science and undertake seeing future frontiers today. We learn foreign languages and communicate with students abroad. Learning is meant to make us more human.

Dwight is subdivided into four separate academic houses:  Timothy House (K-5), Bentley House (6-8), Franklin House (9-10), and Anglo House (11-12), and the Early Years Program at Woodside Preschool (ages 2-4).
