How many places are generally open each year?
Forty students enter Kindergarten each year, 15-20 join our Middle School, and 30 join our Ninth Grade. The number of openings in other grades varies from year to year.

What is the application deadline?
The deadline for receiving applications is December 1st. International families may apply for second round throughout the school year.

What is the Quest Program?
The Quest Program provides an individualized mentoring program for students of high academic ability who need to enhance their skills in a particular academic area. Students work individually with a Quest instructor for a designated number of periods per week. The student, parent or guardian, and instructor set individual goals for each student. Quest students are expected to meet all academic requirements.

How do I apply for the Quest Program?
There is a place on the application to indicate interest in Quest admission. You will need to submit a recent psycho-educational evaluation (conducted within the past two years).

Do international students need to submit ERB/ISEE or PSAT scores?
ERB testing is now administered worldwide and international applicants are required to take the test.

What is the birthday cut-off for students entering Kindergarten?
Students should be 5 years old when starting Kindergarten in September. Occasional exceptions are made for international students.

Which entrance do I use for Admissions Open Houses and interviews?
Evening Open Houses are held at our 18 West 89th Street building. Morning tours and interviews are conducted at our 291 Central Park West (corner of 89th Street) location.

All parents are required to attend an Evening Open House and tour the school. Once an application is submitted, the Admissions Office will contact you to set up a parent interview. Students will be scheduled to attend a 45-minute group Kindergarten session on a Saturday in either November or December.

Once an application is submitted, the Admissions Office will contact you to set up an initial parent and student interview. During the interview process, students will be required to complete an admissions assessment. The Admissions Office will review the application with the Head of the Quest Department and may invite the student in for a second interview with a Quest teacher.
