Dance

Beginning with free movement in Preschool and Kindergarten music classes, students progress to dance classes in second grade focusing on creative movement connected to academic subjects. They develop social and communication skills by creating dances through collaboration. Students also enhance their movement vocabulary through improvisation; and by responding to music, poetry, visual stimuli, spatial ideas, and dramatic themes.

In Middle School, students can continue developing expressive movement skills by participating in after-school theater. They, along with Upper School students, have opportunities to work with a resident professional choreographer and can create their own dances for on-campus performances. Additionally, dancers may perform in Upper School musicals.
