One of Dwight’s proud traditions is the Camerer Essay Competition, held annually in memory of Dr. Emil E. Camerer, a prominent educator who served as Dwight’s Headmaster from 1895-1926.
Last year, students from Shanghai, London, and Dwight Global joined their peers in New York by participating in their own school-wide competitions for the first time, extending this tradition across continents and into the cloud. This year, we’re delighted to have continued the larger match-up, with students from Dubai joining in place of London.
The competition process begins when students in grades 9-11 submit essays to their English teachers, who then select the best in each grade for review by all English Department faculty. The winning entries are then entered into the global competition, adding to a myriad of enriching Dwight cross-campus programs and collaborations. This year, they were judged by administrators from The Dwight Schools.
