Our scholar-athletes brought the heat this spring season, rounding out a successful athletic year with State-level competitions, all-league recognitions, personal records, and a team debut!
Varsity Track
Our Lions made their mark on the track in two leagues, ACIS and ISAL, in addition to competing at the NYSAIS State Championship.
Distance runners Matthew Armstrong ’21 and Alex Rich ’21 received all-league honorable recognition from ACIS for their times and dedication to the sport, as did sprinters Emma Laurence ’23 and Adriana Berlfein ’23. Adriana and Catriona Ross '23 were honored by the ISAL League for their outstanding season, as were Alex and Alp Alagoz ‘20.
Alex celebrated a new personal record in the 3,200-meter run, clocking in at a quick 10:16.10. He also earned Dwight’s Athlete of the Season Award!

Middle School Track & Field
Our Middle School Lions worked hard to improve their speed and skills. They enjoyed personal bests and team victories — and excelled in two very important arenas of athletics: dedication and fun!
Varsity Golf
Dwight’s golfers played great rounds all season, competing in multiple league tournaments, as well as the State championship. Pablo Navarro '20 placed second in the ISAL Individual League Tournament, and was joined on the green by teammate Luke Alessi '21, who made a strong showing. Pablo and Halee You '21 also qualified to compete in the ACIS Championship.
Pablo and Halee’s excellent rounds received all-league recognition from the ACIS, and Pablo was also honored with an ISAL All-league Award. Pablo, Luke, Halee, and Teddy Koutsos '20 teed off in the NYSAIS State Championship, making us proud!
Varsity Softball
Dwight Lions roared onto the softball pitch for the first time this year, proving that hard work is the key to success! This team began as a mere dream, with 17 scholar-athletes who were new to the game, but prepared to show their grit, teamwork, and dedication. The result was an incredible first season, with more than 30 runs over three games. The dedication of tenth graders Jacey Hootstein and Sara Piao stood out, earning them all-league recognition from the ISAL.
We can’t wait to see the team continue to grow and thrive next season!
Boys Varsity Tennis
The boys’ squad left the court with a positive overall season record and made a strong showing in the ACIS League Championship playoffs. A young team this year, our Lions gained valuable experience by performing well in high-stakes matches individually and as a team. They aced a fun and encouraging team culture, where every player felt valued and eager to play his best!
Four all-league awards were the icing on the cake! Gabriel Markowitz ’20 and Nicholas Oblonsky ’20 were honored by the ACIS, and Gabriel and Chase Stenberg ’21 by the ISAL.
Varsity Rugby
Our team has so much to celebrate! They had the largest roster yet with 26 participants, and the squad progressed from playing in New York’s Metropolitan Division III to Division II. They thrived in their new and more competitive division, bringing greater intensity and resilience to meet the challenge head-on. They also earned all-league awards in familiar leagues; the ISAL recognized Hugo Mulligan ’21, and the ACIS recognized Jackson Warfield ’19 and Marcello Massone ‘19 for their efforts.
This was a rebuilding year for the team, which graduated ten seniors in 2018; a new crew of talented ruggers emerged, with two eighth graders and ten freshmen among them. They started off with a bang, traveling to Ireland for a week-long, immersive spring training and bonding experience. Captains Marcello and Ari Simmons ’20 led the team fiercely and with unwavering dedication from beginning to end, on the Emerald Isle and back home throughout their season. We all look forward to their continued growth, as well as to another pre-season trip next year to England and Scotland!
Girls Varsity Tennis
This squad celebrated a number of exciting wins, in addition to receiving individual recognition for their spring performance in their competitive league. The ACIS gave All-league Awards to Victoria Pauwels Romero ’22 and Chloe Bouillonnec ’20. Congratulations to Victoria for also earning Dwight’s Athlete of the Season Award!
