Each student in Sara Soto’s Spanish class chose one of 21 countries and then dove into researching that nation’s culture — exploring its history, traditions, and cuisine; and learning about a wide range of topics, from sightseeing, music, and art to nation-specific slang. Their work was both immersive and comprehensive! 
 
Armed with lots of information, students then brought their projects to their Design classes taught by EunSon Ju and Kate Godwin. There, they developed their own websites using Weebly to present what they learned. After building the website architecture, students added their content in Spanish. Throughout the process, they tapped into their creative thinking, time management, detailed planning, and organization skills, while offering feedback and support to one another along the way.

This transdisciplinary project gave students, who are in their third year of Spanish, the opportunity to deepen their Spanish language and design skills at the same time, while growing as IB learners — specifically as open-minded inquirers and communicators — as well as global citizens.
