Christine Pluta, Global College Counseling Director

Since 1997, Christine Pluta has been a respected and admired member of the college admissions counseling community, serving as Regional Director of Admissions at the University of Pennsylvania, Associate Director of Admission at Barnard College, and then joining the college counseling office at Horace Mann School. For 10 years, Ms. Pluta was the Director of College Counseling at the Lycée Français de New York, where she counseled her students applying to universities in the US, the UK, Canada, France, and around the world. In 2020, Ms. Pluta joined the college counseling staff at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC, on an interim basis before coming to Dwight.
As an active member of the Audit/Review Committee of the Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools (ACCIS), Ms. Pluta chairs and participates in school counseling audits in independent schools throughout the US. She served as the Director of the ACCIS Summer Institute in 2012. Ms. Pluta read and reviewed international undergraduate applications as a consultant for UCLA in 2017 and 2018.
Ms. Pluta has led panels at the National Association of College Admission Counseling, the Council of International Schools Global Forum and the College Board Forum, and was a visiting faculty member of the College Board’s Summer Institute for International Counselors. She has written for "The Choice" blog of The New York Times and has been quoted in the Chronicle of Higher Education, Bloomberg, and US News & World Report. She is known for her deep knowledge of college admission, her extensive network, and her unfailingly student-centered approach. Ms. Pluta is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and has served as the Representative for Admissions on the Bryn Mawr College Alumnae Board.
