Financial Aid

Dwight School has a long-standing commitment to its financial aid program, which allows students to have an independent school education regardless of the family’s financial circumstances. Dwight values enrolling a highly qualified student body with diverse talents, interests, and backgrounds. Recipients of financial aid must reapply each year and all financial aid information is kept confidential. We seek to support as many families as possible and our award decisions are based on demonstrated need.

Additional Considerations for Families Applying for Financial Aid

Dwight School is proud of its community partnerships with the Central Baptist Church and the East River Landing Housing Community which is home to the Dwight School Athletic Center. Members of these communities are given preference in Financial Aid grant allocation. Dwight School is also committed to a robust faculty Financial Aid program. Due to these commitments, Financial Aid for applicants outside of these communities is limited.

It is our philosophy that families bear the primary responsibility for financing the education of their children. Therefore, we expect both parents to contribute as much as possible toward tuition. If your family has special circumstances that prevent one parent from working, please disclose this information in your parent financial statement. Each application and circumstance is evaluated individually.

Students who initially enrolled at Dwight School without a financial aid package are eligible to apply for aid only if they have experienced a significant change in circumstances. Funds are not available for families with pre-existing needs that were not disclosed at the time of initial admission.

Payment Plan Options

In addition to financial aid, Dwight School offers several different payment options for families.

Step-by-Step Guide to Financial Aid Applicant Process

  • STEP 1: Submit the Dwight School application for admissions through Ravenna by December 1, 2019. Please indicate that you intend to apply for financial aid by checking the appropriate box on the application.
  • STEP 2: All families seeking financial aid must complete a confidential parent financial statement each year. Dwight accepts financial aid applications exclusively via TADS. The deadline for submitting the financial aid forms and supporting materials is December 5, 2019. All financial aid information is kept confidential.
  • STEP 3: Financial aid awards will be sent at the same time as acceptances. For current families, awards are distributed as part of re-enrollment. The Admissions Committee recommends students to the Financial Aid Committee once an admissions decision has been made.
  • STEP 4: In order to secure an award, a signed contract and deposit are required at the time of (re) enrollment.
