What are the Online IB Program Requirements?

The internationally recognized, highly respected International Baccalaureate program is popular with families for its excellent reputation, global mindedness, and rigorous academics respected by colleges and universities.
The IB curriculum is one of the most challenging academic programs available, and recognized by university admissions directors around the world as the “gold standard” in college preparation based on the breadth and depth of the curriculum.
Until recently, IB classes were only available in traditional brick and mortar schools. However, with the increase in online education, families have sought a personalized education that combines class schedule flexibility and IB courses and programs.

The curriculum requires students to take six IB courses online concurrently with the Core curriculum. To obtain the IB Diploma, students must take at least three higher level classes.
The Core is the bedrock of the program and fosters critical thinking, community engagement, and research. It comprises the Theory of Knowledge course, which explores the nature and dimension of knowledge, and the Extended Essay, where students write an academic research essay based on a research project on a topic of their own choosing.
The Core also includes CAS projects, which seek to develop the student through projects promoting creativity, activity, and service.
