Dwight Global students are independent-minded, have excellent time management skills, and are uncompromising in the pursuit of their goals. They represent 40 different countries around the world, and are interested in sharing their diverse talents and experiences while passionately pursuing extracurriculars.

“As a fully virtual school that prides itself on providing an experience as close to a brick and mortar institution as possible–with community and engagement–our instructional model is designed to provide a personalized and rigorous education that is flexible and accessible for students worldwide,” said Renata Nikolayev, Dwight Global’s Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

What is a typical week like at Dwight Global?

Dwight Global students carry a full online course load, completing five to six courses per year. Each course has weekly modules. Core courses (English, mathematics, science, and social studies) require approximately four hours a week each, while electives require approximately three hours.

Dwight Global offers both International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement courses. Renowned for the highest academic standards and assessment, both IB and AP courses are looked upon very favorably by colleges and universities. Each AP or IB course requires a time commitment of five-six hours weekly.

Additionally, Dwight Global offers real-time video conference seminars, individual online tutorials, and optional in-person experiences several times a year, including student orientation, STEAM weekend in NYC, musical performances, prom, graduation, recruited athlete Signing Day, and other events.

Dwight Global provides the best elements of a private day school, boarding school, and online school; consequently, each week may not look exactly the same.

Will students receive course selection guidance?

Yes, college counselors and deans help facilitate the course selection process for each student.

What are the technical requirements?

The most important requirement is consistent access to a strong internet signal. Students will also need a notebook computer with a Windows or Mac operating system, one that includes a camera and microphone. Dwight Global uses the online platform Canvas to post and store all course-related information. The school recommends that students have an updated PC or Apple desktop or laptop. Chromebooks are not able to support some software used in Dwight Global classes.

What is an online class like?

Dwight Global’s engaging courses are structured around seminar-based live discussion meetings. Students participate in more than 175 real-time video-conference courses taught by Dwight faculty in an online classroom with a maximum of 15 students.

Instruction is guided through explanations, resources and materials, and interactive use of media. Students also have access to recorded video lectures and will complete other online and offline course materials. Teachers provide feedback to promote lifelong learning habits, as students develop communication, organization, research, and social skills.

How does Dwight Global ensure the quality of online courses?

Dwight Global is accredited and is also authorized by the IB as a pilot partner offering the online IB Diploma program. These designations ensure external review and evaluation by expert educators.

Program evaluation surveys also provide regular feedback about student learning, participation, and assessment. Instructors are reviewed regularly and given opportunities to participate in the professional development regarding the latest techniques in online pedagogy. New courses are added to expand the range of choices based on student needs and interests.

Dwight Global offers a range of online middle and high school courses that are interactive and encourage meaningful collaboration. These courses are designed, developed, and taught by highly experienced faculty. Dwight Global curriculum promotes the development of open-minded, independent thinkers who can apply what they have learned in the real world.

What type of support can Dwight Global students expect?

Dwight Global has a system of multi-level mentoring across all grades. Through a personalized approach, Dwight seeks to develop a unique “spark of genius” in every student.
