For competitive tennis players at the junior level, qualifying to compete in a Grand Slam Juniors event is a well-deserved thrill.
Fifteen junior players represented the United States at this year’s Australian Open Juniors Tennis Championship, and three of the 15 are current Dwight Global Online School students. The Australian Open Juniors is the first of four Grand Slams that take place yearly.
Claire An '25, Shannon Lam '26, and Dominick Mosejczuk '25 competed at Melbourne Park, the site of the 2025 Australian Open Juniors, from January 18-25. All three are Grand Slam veterans.
It takes skill and talent to make it to a Grand Slam, and tournament play halfway around the world is an exciting aspect of competitive play. Melbourne is a whopping 10,374 miles away from New York City, near An and Lam’s homes, and 10,752 miles from Spain, where Mosejczuk trains. Flight time to Melbourne from both locations is more than 22 hours, making it an ultra-long-haul flight.
In order to compete at such a high level and still complete high school requirements for the rigorous academic programs attractive to top colleges and universities, elite tennis players need support and flexibility. Competitive tennis players have discovered Dwight Global makes it possible to take both academics and tennis to the next level.
