What is the International Baccalaureate?

The IB educates caring, open-minded, and critical thinkers, who can help make our world a better place.  The IB is recognized worldwide as one of the most challenging academic programs available.  The IB program offers an education comprising of four programs that focus on teaching students to think critically and independently and how to make inquiries about their studies using care and logic as a basis. The IB prepares students for success by exploring how to ask the right questions throughout their studies -- a skill that will position them well long after graduation.

IB fosters critical thinking and promotes problem-solving skills, while encouraging diversity, international mindedness, curiosity, and develops a keen appetite for learning and excellence. IB curriculum aims to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge and promotes students who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally, and ethically.

The IB focuses on personal student development, and it’s widely known that an IB program can enrich a student’s high school experience and prepare them for college in myriad ways. IB takes a global approach, looking at big ideas across disciplines, enabling students to dig deep into their coursework.

Why does Dwight Global Online School offer the IB Program?

The IB teaches students and creatively; to approach their studies with a global, ethical perspective; to become lifelong learners. As a result, we believe the IB program dovetails beautifully with Dwight Global’s mission to ignite the spark of learning in every child. The IB program is recognized internationally as one of the most challenging academic programs, the gold standard in pre-university preparation; it provides the ideal academic framework for educating international-minded problem-solvers -- students who are culturally agile, bilingual, and even trilingual -- positioning them for success in today’s global marketplace.

We believe the IB curriculum aligns with our vision of educating the next generation of global leaders. We aim to provide an education that enables students to make sense of the complexities of the world around them, as well as equipping them with the skills and dispositions needed for taking responsible action for the future.  IB provides an education that crosses disciplinary, cultural, national and geographical boundaries, and that champions critical engagement, stimulating ideas and meaningful relationships.
