Preparing for the 2022-23 School Year

Dwight Global students should acquire required textbooks and materials for their courses. If textbooks are not listed for a particular class, the class does not require a textbook. Textbooks may be obtained from Amazon, book publishers, or a local library.

Families are encouraged to take a few minutes to review their student's selected courses for the 2022-23 academic year. These are courses chosen based on your course selection meeting with your Dean. Instructions on viewing these course lists can be found here. If you have a question about the courses listed, or if you would like to make a change, please reach out to your child’s Dean. 

Some Dwight Global courses require students to complete pre-fall assignments prior to classes starting on September 12. Available below is a list of pre-fall assignments organized by subject area. If a course you are taking is not listed, you do not have any pre-fall assignments for that course.

In this form, please let us know when you are *not* available for class or school events in the 2022-23 school year. We will use this information to create a schedule with optimized live class times and school events. Please note that all times are listed in the Eastern time zone.

Dwight Global hosts numerous parent events throughout the year.  To start the year, we invite that parents to mark their calendars for:

• Dwight Global 101, online, September 1 at 10 am ET or 7 pm ET
• Parent Tea (in-person), Dwight School New York, September 11, 4-5 pm ET
• Back-to-School Night for Parents, online, September 20 at 9 am or 5 pm ET
• Middle School Parent Workshop: Supporting the Middle School Learner, online, September 28, 10 am ET

Orientation is a beloved tradition at Dwight Global, and we are excited to invite new and returning students to join us in New York City for Fall Orientation 2022! We will open at 5 pm eastern on Friday, September 9, and conclude the weekend at 5 pm eastern on Sunday, September 11.

The 3-day program includes:

• Engaging sessions on academics and student life at Dwight Global
• Exploration of New York City landmarks and entertainment
• College campus tour (grades 9-12)
• Bonding with peers and teachers

We look forward to sharing the full program schedule later this summer. 

• We recommend that students have an updated PC or Apple computer (desktop or laptop). Chromebooks are not able to support some software used in our courses.
• Your device should have a microphone so you can participate in class discussions.
• Your device should have a working webcam. If not, please obtain an external webcam.
• Headphones are highly recommended as they help to minimize audio distraction.
• You should have consistent access to the internet.
• If you do not already have it, please download and install Google Chrome web browser. Canvas integrations are not compatible with other internet browsers.
• Make sure you have an updated installation of the Zoom desktop application.
• Though not required, tablets and iPads can be beneficial for electronic note-taking, using the Canvas Student or Zoom apps for learning on the go, and other interactive activities.
