Middle School

Submit Online Application

Please create an account and apply online through Ravenna, our admissions database. Please note the application deadline of December 1, 2022. Supplementary materials, such as transcripts and teacher recommendations are due by January 15th, 2023.

Attend an Optional Tour

We will be leading optional small group tours for applicants and their parents October through January. Registration is via Ravenna and on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will be limited appointments for these tours, so if you do not have an opportunity to tour in the fall, we will also be offering all accepted families a 1:1 tour in February once decisions are released.

Attend a Virtual Open House

We will be holding one in-person and a second virtual Middle School open house in the fall. Please visit our Virtual Admissions Events page for more information about Open Houses and other upcoming events.

Schedule Student Virtual Interview

Once you have submitted an application, you will be able to schedule a student virtual interview. Applicants should bring paper and a pencil to the virtual interview, as they will be doing some writing.

Schedule Parent Virtual Interview

Once you have submitted an application, you will be able to schedule your parent interview via Ravenna. We will be conducting parent interviews for grades 6-8 via Zoom throughout the Admissions season.

Submit Official Transcript and Confidential Teacher Recommendations

The transcript release form and teacher recommendation forms should be submitted to the candidate’s present school. If the transcript and teacher recommendation forms are not completed in English, an official translation must also be provided.

Current fifth graders applying to sixth grade are required to submit one teacher recommendation from their fifth grade head teacher.

For students applying to seventh and eighth grades, two different teacher recommendations are required, but they can be from the same school year.

Testing

Middle School Testing Optional Policy for the 2022-23 Admissions Season

Students must submit testing, however they have options regarding which test to submit. Students can submit standardized test results from the ISEE/SSAT exams OR they can elect to take Dwight’s internal exam. In person assessments will take place on Thursdays in January (1/12,1/19,1/26) from 4-5 pm.

We will consider all applicants equally, whether or not they take the ISEE/SSAT or the Dwight internal test.

For those applicants who decide to take either the ISEE or the SSAT test, please visit the ERB website or the SSAT website to schedule a test date.

If you want to submit your scores, please ensure that Dwight School is listed as a recipient. Our school code for the ISEE is 333605. For the SSAT, our code is 2930.

Optional: Submit ISAAGNY Common Applicant Essay

Applicants to Middle School have the option of submitting the ISAAGNY Common Middle School Applicant essay, but it is not mandatory. Applicants will be able to download the ISAAGNY essay form once they submit their applications in Ravenna.

International Families

If you are an international family, please visit our International Families page for further information.

Please note: Applicant family is responsible for confirming their child's application is complete. We will not review incomplete applications.
