Planned Giving

Ignite the spark of genius in every child for generations to come. Shape your legacy today.

Including The Dwight School Foundation in your estate plan ensures critical support for financial aid, faculty professional development, and Spank Tank innovation grants — and may also provide tax benefits for you and your family. Explore the wide range of planned giving options below:

Bequests

Charitable bequests are gifts made through a will or trust. They are one of the most impactful, flexible, and popular ways to make a planned gift.

Sample Bequest Language: “I give to The Dwight School Foundation, a nonprofit corporation currently located at 291 Central Park West, New York NY 10024, the sum of $______ for its unrestricted use and purpose (or for the support of a specific fund or program)."

Legal Name: Dwight School Foundation
Tax ID: 23-7028884

Your attorney will add this wording to your will if you choose to make a gift.

IRA Charitable Rollover

If you are 70 ½ or older, an IRA charitable rollover (sometimes called a Qualified Charitable Distribution) allows you to make tax-free charitable gifts of up to $100,000 annually. You can meet your required minimum distribution (RMD) by giving to The Dwight School Foundation directly from your IRA.

Gifts from Retirement Plans

You can name The Dwight School Foundation as a full or partial beneficiary of your retirement plan assets, including IRAs, 401(k)s, 403(b)s, or pensions. As the beneficiary of these assets, The Dwight School Foundation benefits from the full, tax-free value of your gift, and your estate will benefit from a charitable gift deduction.

Gifts of Life Insurance

By designating The Dwight School Foundation as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy or transferring ownership of the policy to The Dwight School Foundation, you can make a significant legacy gift with minimal cost during your lifetime while also enjoying tax benefits. Through a relatively small annual premium, you can give a larger gift to The Dwight School Foundation than otherwise would be possible.

Charitable Lead Trusts

A charitable lead trust is an irrevocable trust that makes payments to The Dwight School Foundation for a set period of time. After that time period has ended, all remaining assets are distributed to your beneficiaries.

Legacy Society

The 1872 Society recognizes donors who have made a meaningful investment in the future of The Dwight School Foundation.
