Visual Arts

At Dwight, Visual Arts are organized around the creative cycle: planning, creating, and evaluating art. Students gain confidence and ability through an immersion in media ranging from drawing to clay. Our courses help students become passionate creatives with a critical eye, inquiring mind, and individual approach.

The full range of visual arts learning at Dwight includes:
  • Drawing - realism and abstraction
  • Painting - watercolor and acrylics
  • Printmaking - block printmaking, intaglio, and cyanotypes
  • Sculpture - found-object assemblages, ceramics, casting, and mold-making
  • Fiber arts - embroidery and soft sculpture
  • Mural painting
  • Upper School micro-courses in ceramics, mixed media, and senior college portfolio development
