Annual Global Concert Hosted by Shanghai Qibao Dwight High School

Last week, our eight campuses united on one stage for the annual Dwight Schools Global Concert. Hosted by Shanghai Qibao Dwight High School this year (after a seven year hiatus), it was an incredible celebration of music and tradition.

This extraordinary event brought student-musicians from across the globe together for a week of exploration, food, and culture (and ample rehearsals!), leading up to the incredible musical event. With over 100 students in attendance, musical and personal connections were made. Anayah Parkinson ’29 from Franklin School in Jersey City, USA, said, “It was truly amazing to see how people from all over the world with unique talents work together and make beautiful music. You make new genuine friendships with people you would never expect.”

Under this year's theme, “Symbiosis,” there was a diverse range of music presented: from an experimental music group from Qibao Dwight and traditional fare from Hanoi, to original compositions by our students from Seoul and ensembles that featured musicians from across our campuses, this concert was unforgettable. There were a variety of genres covered – such as Classical Rock and Classical (ex. Chopin, ABBA, Liszt, and Handel). The audience, which included every Head of School and parents from all campuses,  was surprised and impressed by the performances.

We are deeply grateful to our Shanghai Qibao Dwight community for all the planning that went into such a spectacular event. More news from this Dwight tradition will follow, but for now, read more in the program found here:
